Wrinkle test: backpack, rain, library

⏱ 4 min read

Do you know that?

You rush to the train in the drizzle, your backpack rubs against your shoulder, the scarf slips over your hood when you sit down – and in the university library you notice in the mirror: your hijab looks like it's had a long day. Which is exactly what it is.

What's the problem here?

Your hijab gets a lot of wear and tear in everyday life. From raincoats to backpack straps to bags on your lap – it's constantly being pushed, shoved, or pulled. Especially on long university days, you'll see how durable your hijab really is – and how freshly tied it still looks after a few hours.

The mini crease test

Three fabrics, three everyday situations: We observed how jersey, chiffon and crinkle performed on a typical study day – with a backpack on, rain outside and dry heated air inside.

1. Jersey – the Forgiving One

Despite friction from the coat collar and shoulder strap, the jersey retains its shape. Even if it's adjusted several times or slightly slips, once smoothed out, it looks neat again. Creases? Hardly visible.

🟢 Recommendation: Perfect for days with lots of movement, lecture changes, and subway seating.

2. Chiffon – the elegant one with care

Chiffon appears light and elegant, but after some time it shows pressure marks – especially on the shoulders or where a bag rubs. It quickly returns to its original shape in dry air, but can take a little longer in humid conditions.

🟡 Recommendation: Ideal for structured days with little time outdoors – or when you are sure of your seat.

3. Crinkle – the structure-tolerant one

Crinkle fabric scores points with its surface: even slight creases appear as part of the look. Even after prolonged wear on the shoulder or under the hood, the style remains intact – no need to smooth it out, no hassle.

🟢 Recommendation: For busy days with chaotic weather – Crinkle can handle it.

Did you know?

– Jersey benefits from the “self-recovery” effect: The fibers relax on their own.
Chiffon scarves tend to wrinkle more at the edges – a gentle shake helps there.
– Crinkle visually conceals pressure marks due to its fine texture.

"I was out all day – my crinkle hair still looked exactly the same in the evening as it did in the morning!" – Selin, 22

In short

Everyday wear test passed – but with differences. If you're often on the go and want to be able to rely on your look, jersey and crinkle are particularly suitable for everyday wear. Chiffon, on the other hand, requires a bit more care.
